7.10.2015

The Turkish ceramic industry is establishing a new position in today’s changing world.

At the end of 2015, the Turkish ceramic industry expects to achieve $1.25 billion in export value, constituting a 12% increase. The ambition is to achieve $3.5 billion export value by the end of 2023.

It is no secret that these are difficult times worldwide. Unstable politics and shrinking economies affect entire regions. But difficult times also bring new opportunities; push industry to consider changing perspectives and to find new solutions. In 2015 world trade is expected to downsize by 4 to 5%. The growth rate of developing countries is slowing down but developed economies like the USA and some EU countries are still growing.

Turkey is one of the strongest players in the ceramics industry in the world today with its abundance of natural resources, high quality ceramic products, design vision and the innovative approach of its companies. Turkey is ranked as one of the top five ceramic tile and ceramic sanitary ware exporters in the world. By the end of the 2014, Turkey reached $1.1 billion in ceramic products export, with more than $599 million coming from ceramic tiles and more than $222 million in ceramic sanitary ware. Turkey is the 4th ceramic tile exporter and the 5th ceramic sanitary ware exporter in the world.

Turkishceramics’ focus is on growing markets and the USA economy’s turnaround has brought it to the fore of our commercial priority. Currently, Turkey is one of four countries that export ceramics to the USA along with China, Mexico and Italy. The competitive edge of Turkish ceramics comes from its high technology production facilities, product quality and strong design. In order to accelerate the relations between Turkish ceramic companies and US buyers, a four-day event was organized in İstanbul in May 2015 for fifty members of the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association(CTDA). Turkishceramics will participate with a strong presence at next year’s Coverings Fair in Chicago USA.

At the end of 2015 the Turkish ceramic industry expects to achieve $1.25 billion in exports with a 12% increase over 2014. The end goal is $3.5 billion in exports by the end of 2023. In order to reach to this target and to support the ceramic industry, the Turkishceramics Promotion Group has increased its communication and promotional activities focusing on different target markets worldwide.
